Southern Open Annual Results 1974

Forrest Fezler, coming off a solo second to Hale Irwin at the 1974 U.S. Open, outlasted
J.C. Snead and Bruce Crampton by one stroke. Fezler won with the same score that had
been good enough for 2nd place in 1973.

Defending champion Gary Player, winner of both the 1974 Masters and British Open, was
playing in the old 4-man World Series of Golf, scheduled the same week as the Southern.

62-year-old Sam Snead tied for 38th and collected a modest $410 !!!
