On April 2nd 1986, Alabama Governor George C. Wallace, then in the final year of his fourth term as the state's Chief Executive,
held a press conference in the old Alabama State Capitol chambers. He announced to a packed house of aides, well-wishers and
that, due mainly to health concerns, he would not be seeking another term as Governor.
This 15-minute video is taken from Montgomery AL station WSFA TV-12's coverage of Wallace's announcement.
Included are reactions from close Wallace allies, supporters and friends, as well as various individuals who were
seeking to be nominated as candidates for Governor in the upcoming 1986 state elections.
