Q u a n t e l P a i n t b o x Wikipedia Article YouTube Channel + Videos + Paint With Light (BBC, 1987) The Quantel Paintbox, introduced in the 1980s, was a digital art tool used by commercial entities (especially broadcast TV firms and ad agencies) and independent artists to create video portraits and video effects. Over time, personal computers and video monitors became sophisticated enough that the PaintBox system was eventually replaced with newer visual art apps. "Paint With Light" was a six-episode series presented on BBC TV in 1987. Each half-hour episode featured a different artist trying out the Quantel Box. The artists featured were David Hockney, Larry Rivers, Howard Hodgkin, Sir Sidney Nolan, Jennifer Bartlett and Richard Hamilton. A condensed 90-minute version presenting portions of the Hockney, Rivers, Hodgkin and Bartlett episodes was offered on VHS and Laserdisc. It is now available for viewing at this YouTube Link.
